Zero Waste Scotland Report Shows 27 Million Tons of Waste and Residues Available for Biorefineries

by Meghan Sapp (Biofuels Digest)  In the UK, a new report prepared by Ricardo Energy & Environment for Zero Waste Scotland found more than 27 million metric tons of available waste, by-products, agricultural residues and wastewater sludge could be used by biorefineries in Scotland, with an eye on grouping them into hubs to facilitate their use and achieve economies of scale. The resources are in addition to forestry residues and algae that were included in a separate study supporting the Biorefinery Roadmap for Scotland.
